Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets:

Via our ISO 14001 Framework’s Emission Reduction Plan continue developing projects to reduce our carbon output further, but using fewer offsetting opportunities where possible, to achieve net zero by 2030. Please also refer to Environmental Policy as part of ISO 14001.

Carbon reduction projects

Completed carbon reduction initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed.

We are committed to reducing the impact of our business on the planet and have initiated a number of green initiatives within the business:

– All paper and cardboard produced at our office is sent to be recycled, we are working on including plastic as part of our ISO14001 improvement objectives.
– All monitors & computers are set to sleep by each employee to reduce energy consumption
– Light sensors installed in meeting rooms and toilets
– Continued participation in a tree planting scheme as part of our ISO14001 improvement objectives
– Creating a Preferred Suppliers List (PSL) of ethical and sustainable companies aligning with our ethos.
– Solar panels installed on both buildings
– Switch to renewable energy provider

We identified that there was still a significant amount of paper within the business, and the production of paper causes substantial amounts of CO2 be released into the atmosphere. We have committed to becoming a paperless office as much as possible and where this is not possible, staff are strongly encouraged to recycle paper and cardboard. We encourage employees to edit and proof all their documents on their computer and print on recycled paper. Unless it is a formal document, staff should always print on both sides of a sheet of paper before recycling it. Memos, company announcements, and all internal communications can and should be sent through email or posted on an online message board.

As well as reducing our carbon footprint, our recycling initiative has also led to a reduction in the amount of material that Database for Business Limited (dbfb) sends to local landfill as the contract with our waste carrier is zero to landfill. For recycling of electrical appliances, we will partner with local businesses to ensure that all our appliances are disposed of or recycled in accordance with WEEE regulations.
