Carbon Reduction Report

Supplier name: Database for Business Limited (dbfb)

Publication date: January 2026

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Database for Business Limited (DBFB) is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030.

We report on a financial year basis and apply the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (operational control). Factors are consistent with UK Government GHG Conversion Factors 2024/2025 where applicable. Electricity is reported market-based at 0 tCO2e due to 100% renewable electricity contracts across offices.

For the year ending 30th September 2025, our organisation is reporting a carbon credit position of –31.91 tonnes, compared to a positive carbon credit of 39.44 tonnes in the previous year. This change has occurred despite our continued investment in renewable electricity and the planting of 800 hardwood trees in British woodlands during 2025. The primary factor contributing to this shift has been a significant increase in nationwide travel by our technicians to support a major corporate installation project, which has resulted in higher overall emissions. We remain committed to returning to a carbon credit position by the year ending 30th September 2026. To achieve this, we are actively collaborating with our supplier to identify insetting opportunities and to sponsor additional green initiatives, such as expanded tree planting and technology recycling programmes, further supporting our long-term sustainability objectives.

Our company’s Scope 1 emissions are reported at zero because we have strategically designed our operations to rely solely on electricity, eliminating the need for fossil fuels such as natural gas.

All our operational activities, from manufacturing to office functions, are powered by electricity. By not using gas or other fossil fuels, we have effectively eliminated direct emissions from fuel combustion.

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets:

Via our ISO 14001 Framework’s Emission Reduction Plan continue developing projects to reduce our carbon output further, but using fewer offsetting opportunities and working with our suppliers on insetting opportunities where possible, to achieve net zero by 2030. Please also refer to Environmental Policy as part of ISO 14001.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed carbon reduction initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2022 baseline.

We are committed to reducing the impact of our business on the planet and have initiated a number of green initiatives within the business:

– All paper, cardboard, food waste & plastic produced at our office is sent to be recycled

– All monitors & computers are set to sleep by each employee to reduce energy consumption

– Light sensors installed in meeting rooms and toilets

– Continued participation in a tree planting scheme as part of our ISO14001 improvement objectives

– Operating using a Preferred Suppliers List (PSL) of ethical and sustainable companies aligning with our ethos.

– Solar panels installed on both buildings

– Switched to 100% renewable energy provider

We identified that there was still a significant amount of paper within the business, and the production of paper causes substantial amounts of CO2 be released into the atmosphere. We have committed to becoming a paperless office as much as possible and where this is not possible, staff are strongly encouraged to recycle paper and cardboard. We encourage employees to edit and proof all their documents on their computer and print on recycled paper. Unless it is a formal document, staff should always print on both sides of a sheet of paper before recycling it. Memos, company announcements, and all internal communications can and should be sent through email or posted on an online message board.

As well as reducing our carbon footprint, our recycling initiative has also led to a reduction in the amount of material that Database for Business Limited (dbfb) sends to local landfill. For recycling of electrical appliances, we partner with a local business to ensure that all our appliances are disposed of or recycled in accordance with WEEE regulations.
