Cave & Sons were operating on an outdated phone system with limited features and no disaster recovery plan. They were still relying on ISDN30 lines, which had already become unsupported and were due to be switched off completely due to the PSTN Switch Off. Call charges were high, the system lacked flexibility, and there was no easy way to scale or modernise without significant cost and disruption. Their call recording setup also presented compliance risks, offering no secure storage or portal access to retrieve records – an essential requirement for regulated businesses. In addition, their leased line was expensive, service levels were inconsistent, and support from their previous provider was limited.
With frustrations building and regulatory pressures increasing, the team decided to move more services to dbfb, building on the relationship already in place through their mobile and telephony contracts.
dbfb delivered a complete upgrade of Cave & Sons’ communications and connectivity. We moved the business to a full fibre broadband connection via CityFibre, delivering speeds of over 700 Mbps to support cloud-based systems and improve day-to-day performance. A new VoIP phone system was implemented, offering flexible call routing, voicemail updates and easy scalability as the team grows.
To meet FCA compliance requirements, we deployed an Oak call recording solution with secure storage and simple retrieval via a user-friendly portal. The setup also includes a secondary connection with automatic failover for added resilience. With 7,000 inclusive call minutes each month and one provider for support, billing and upgrades, Cave & Sons now benefit from a faster, more secure and future-proofed setup, without the complexity of managing multiple suppliers.
