What does DB-Text do?
Sending a message to a group of people is an easy process with DB-Text. There are three stages: selecting recipients, creating a message and sending the message.

How do I select recipients?
DB-Text has a simple but powerful selection system that allows you to select people in your database with similar characteristics. You might enter for example
INCLUDE Age IS BETWEEN 20 AND 35
AND Sex IS FEMALE
All people that satisfy those criteria are displayed in front of you. You may reduce the selection by stating a number of records to be chosen at random

How do I create a message? Create a message just by typing in the text on to the screen (it's much faster than on a mobile!) Messages can be saved and built up into a reusable library.

How do I send a message? This is done with just a couple of mouse-clicks. As messages are sent you can watch progress.

Can I receive and store messages?
DB-Text scans the black-box every so often for messages sent back. They are stored in an Inbox to be read whenever you want and also in individual Call-Logs.

Can I print details of messages sent and received?
There is a set of reports that allows you to retrieve and print details of messages sent and received. There is also a 'Message Responses' report that analyses replies to a specific message.

Can I use records from my own database?
No problem: DB-Text can attach itself to an external database and use data in exactly the same way as described.

I want to select records using another application and use DB-Text as a message centre
You can do this by generating a simple file that is read into DB-Text and then processed normally

How long does the system store messages for?
As long as you want. Housekeeping (message removal) takes place automatically according to parameters supplied by you. However, messages are never entirely deleted but, instead, archived away and may be retrieved at any time.

Does DB-Text check the validity of mobile numbers?
Yes, it will not try to send to an invalid number. Even more than that, it can check for duplicate numbers and ensure that the message is only sent to each number once, thus saving money on message transmission and not annoying the recipient.

How does DB-Text work technically?
Unlike other Texting applications, there is no necessity to use the Internet if you do not wish to do so, especially if you are nervous about releasing commercially-sensitive data to a third party. We use our own proprietary communications unit or black-box that sends and receives messages directly to and from mobile phones. The black-box simply attaches to a standard PC serial port and, once activated, sits in the background until required.
For sending greater volumes of text, we shall shortly release a new version that uses the Internet. It will be possible to receive replies in the normal way via the black-box.
As part of the new release, it will also be possible to send messages via a Siemens GSM modem.

Can I have a Trial Version?
You can try out DB-Text for 30 days by downloading from this site. This is a fully-functioning version that does everything except actually transmit and receive messages. In our new release, we plan to provide message transmission facilities during trial. If you want to test the product out using the full facilities with the communications unit or black-box, or require a trial version on CS, please contact our sales team.
